Supplementary Unemployment Benefit (AGE)

Supplementary unemployment benefit (AGE) is a financial compensation that you can receive when you have been dismissed due to redundancy or illness from an employer affiliated with Omstella. The union needs to have been involved/informed during the termination process. However, you do not need to be a union member.

AGE is a complement to the unemployment benefit fund and can cover up to 70 percent of your previous salary. If your salary is below 35,800 SEK, the unemployment benefit fund already covers 70 percent of your salary. You can receive AGE regardless of whether you receive compensation from your unemployment benefit fund or not.

Financial Support for Studies

Additional study grant

If you have been granted CSN's student finance for transition and retraining, you can apply for Omstella's additional collectively agreed study grant.

You can receive additional study grants for all education in Sweden that qualifies for student finance for transition and retraining. This can include courses at vocational higher education, universities, higher education institutions, adult education (Komvux), and folk high schools. Education funded by Omstella can also be included.

Omstella's additional study grant is always paid out in the same way as CSN's decision regarding student finance for transition and retraining: both as a percentage and in accordance with the payment plan. Together, they can cover up to 80 percent of your salary. If you have a monthly salary of 35,000 SEK or more, the support covers less than 80% of your salary. The income ceiling is 5.5 income base amounts per year. If your income exceeds 5.5 income base amounts per year, you can instead receive 65% of the lost income up to a ceiling of 12 income base amounts per year if it is more beneficial for you.

The annual income used as the basis for our calculation is determined by the Swedish Social Insurance Agency and communicated to us in the decision regarding transition support from CSN.

Short-term agreed study grant

If you want to attend a course or training that is shorter than five days, you may be eligible for our short-term agreed study grant. This can cover up to 70% of your salary. For incomes exceeding one income base amount per month, it covers a lower percentage of your salary. The grant applies to the days you have taken off to study and is paid out after the completion of the training.

The short-term agreed study grant is calculated on salary shares up to and including 1 x income base amount per month.

Purchased training

If you wish to undertake a shorter course or training that is not available in the regular education system, Omstella may, in some cases, finance it. Together with your advisor, you will review the possibilities and requirements associated with the desired training. A basic requirement is that the course or training strengthens your position in the job market.

Validation of professional competence

In certain cases, there may be a need to validate existing professional competence, and in such cases, Omstella can Omstella can finance this validation.

Study grant

Omstella's study grant can be applied for by those who are 40 years old or older at the start of their studies. The studies must be at least 50 per cent and cover at least one term and no more than four terms. Together with CSN's regular student finance, the grant can cover up to 70 per cent of your previous salary. For terms 1 and 2, the grant can cover up to 70% of your salary. For terms 3 and 4, the grant can cover up to 50% of the salary. The maximum for the grant is CSN's income threshold.

The grant is calculated as if you have been awarded student finance from CSN, regardless of whether you choose to withdraw these parts. Student finance from CSN refers to the grant portion and basic loan. The grant is based on the monthly income that your employer has reported to Omstella in connection with the application or the application you made yourself when your fixed-term employment ended.

Supplementary unemployment benefit in case of dispute

If you have been dismissed for personal reasons or due to redundancy and have an ongoing dispute with your employer regarding the dismissal, you may be entitled to a supplementary unemployment benefit. This additional compensation complements the unemployment insurance and, together with the regular unemployment benefit fund, can cover up to 80 per cent of your previous salary.

You can receive support until the dispute is resolved or for a maximum of 300 days. If, during the ongoing dispute, you take a job with a lower salary, we can compensate the difference up to 80 per cent of your previous salary. If you receive financial compensation in the form of outstanding salary, the supplementary unemployment benefit must be repaid to Omstella.

During the dispute, you are entitled to advise and guidance as well as funded training/validation.
